Mark Watson joined the EUROCAE Secretariat in May 2023.
After 8 years in the telecommunications industry, he has worked in the aviation sector for over 25 years. He currently focuses on the EUROCAE domains of Air Traffic Management (ATM), Spectrum and Space.
Mark has a transversal knowledge of aviation ATM concept validation, performance and safety. He supported the ramp-up and execution of SESAR 1 and SESAR2020 programmes, with the provision of a team of Systems Engineering and Project Management experts, and collaboration tool. He gained significant experience in the validation of new operational concepts and controller tools using an ATM real-time simulation platform.

As the industry transitions from the Single European Sky (SES) operational framework to a new European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) framework, what are the challenges of the new framework for aviation, in particular for manufacturers and ANSPs? What’s the latest with SESAR 3 in delivering the Digital European Sky? How will the new framework, comprising five regulations, increase interoperability, make the performance of ATM ground equipment more uniform, and support the introduction of innovative technologies to reduce air congestion? How do Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) navigate the implementation process of the new framework?
