Mr. Hunt brings more than 30 years of expertise in embedded and distributed systems design, implementation, and integration. He specializes in system-of-systems integration and semantic data architectures that enable flexibility, interoperability, and cybersecurity across complex platforms. His technical background spans embedded systems, distributed real-time systems, data modeling and data science, system architecture, and robotics and controls. He is widely recognized as an industry expert in Open Architecture and data-centric systems and serves as Skay’s lead consultant for distributed real-time and service-oriented architectures.
A frequent author and speaker, Mr. Hunt presents regularly on modern combat systems and command-and-control architectures. He serves on the Advisory Board for The Open Group’s FACE™ (Future Airborne Capability Environment) Consortium and on the Office of the Secretary of Defense UAV Control Segment (UCS) executive board, contributing to technical leadership across multiple interoperability initiatives, including Open System Architecture, Open Mission Systems, and industrial and medical standardization efforts.
A retired U.S. Navy Engineering Duty Captain, he led efforts across NAVSEA, NAVWAR, ONR, and NRL supporting the design and deployment of cyber-resilient naval combat systems. He holds a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from Purdue University and an M.S. in Aerospace Engineering and Robotics from Stanford University.

    Open architectures and emerging technologies are reshaping how avionics systems are integrated. Within the Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE), data modelling—through the Open Universal Domain Description Language (Open UDDL)—provides a common, extensible method for defining and exchanging data. By eliminating ambiguity and supporting model-based engineering, Open UDDL accelerates integration and enables greater reuse of COTS and software components. This session explores how FACE data modelling improves interoperability, speeds capability delivery, and aligns with advances in AI-driven data analysis and system management—ensuring integration is faster, more reliable, and adaptable across next-generation airborne and mission systems.
