Andy is the Founder/owner of Heedra Limited. A UK based Consultancy/VAR in the Satellite PNT area. He is also a Director of PNT Assured Limited, a UK Navigation Technology Development Company, a sister company to Heedra specialising more in protecting/Assuring PNT Systems
Heedra was formed in 2016, but Andy’s experience in GPS/GNSS dates back to 1987, this was when he started working on GPS test equipment at STC. This project eventually became the Spirent GNSS Simulator System. Andy workd on that system for over 29 years, for 10 years as a senior Engineer, with the rest of the rime Supporting and Selling systems, being the regional Sales Manager for Asia Pacific for 15 years, until he retired.
Heedra can help companies understand GPS/GNSS and in particular how to Test GPS/GNSS devices. It has it’s own GPS/GNSS test systems, based upon the Skydel Software System, and can supply systems based upon Skydel from Heedra and Safran.
PNT Assured markets products of other companies to the UK/Ireland Market Including GPSPatron who are a Polish company specialising in GPS/GNSS Interference detection equipment. Recently we have introduced products from the BD-Star group of Companies in China. BD-Star Subsidiaries, included UniCore Chipsets and Modules, Harxon Antennas, TruePoint PPP, and ICOE IoT Modules.
Prior to 1987, Andy did a degree at Portsmouth, and worked at STC, and Texas Instruments, on Automated testing and Operating System support. While at Texas Instruments he worked for a year in France followed by a year in the US, before returning to the UK.

The increasing threat of GNSS Interference and Spoofing and the potential effects on Aviation
Cybersecurity in aviation faces critical challenges including GNSS vulnerabilities such as jamming, spoofing, and interference, compounded by increasing connectivity. Avionics systems are increasingly networked and the integration of Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs), often consumer devices like iPads, introduces risks of data manipulation through two-way gateways to the flight deck. Maintenance tools and cabin systems pose additional threats if uncertified, risking malware introduction. Emerging 5G interference challenges demand resilient aircraft systems. New regulatory focus, such as CAA NIS-D, emphasizes data integrity alongside availability, mandating comprehensive cyber risk management. Protecting end-to-end data integrity, akin to navigation database standards (DO-200/ED-76), and DO-326A/ED200-2A compliance is essential to prevent upstream contamination, aviation systems security and ensuring safety.
